Credit Tracking

By clicking the pink button, you can access the OSSR-database to record your activities and keep track of the credits that you have earned.

**IMPORTANT: ** To be awarded a PhD degree, you must accumulate the total number of credit points required by the PhD Guidelines of the university you are enrolled in. All three partner universities recognize and accept the IMPRS-LM curriculum—meaning you can fulfill your degree requirements by participating in IMPRS-LM activities.

Why should I collect the IMPRS-LM credit points?

If you collect the 30 credit points (CP) required by the IMPRS-LM, you will receive, in addition to the university PhD degree, the IMPRS certificate (and the transcript if requested) that formally acknowledges your participation in the school and successful completion of the curriculum.

How can you earn credit points?

You can earn CP by participating in a wide range of scientific, educational, and professional development activities, including:

You can find a summary of the amount of CP per activity in this table. In addition to the minimum CP associated to each activity, you can earn additional points by actively participating, for example by joining the lunches with the distinguished speakers or by chairing a session at a meeting or by participating in the organization of an IMPRS-LM event. If you volunteer and are elected student representative you will also collect CP!

How can I record my activities?

  1. Click on the above OSSR button and you will access (password required) your account on the credit-database,
  2. Click on the CREATE button to add a new activity,
  3. Select the activity type from the dropdown menu (e.g., “Seminar”, “Workshop,” “Conference,” “TAC Meeting”, etc.),
  4. Provide details such as:
    • Name of the event,
    • Date(s) of participation,
    • Duration (in days),
    • Your role or contribution (e.g., “attendance,” “oral presentation,” “active participation,” “session chair”)
  5. The system will automatically calculate the CP based on your input,
  6. Review all information on the final confirmation page before submitting,
  7. Once submitted, your entry will appear with a red exclamation mark until approved by the IMPRS-LM coordination office.

Please notice that at all steps of the above process you can select options from drop-down menus. If the field is not available, please enter the required information manually.

When should I record my activities on the credit-database?

The sooner the better. If you leave this task to the very end of your doctoral studies you will most probably have forgotten most of the activities you took part in. The IMPRS coordination office does not keep a record of attendance. It is your responsibility to document your activities in a timely manner.
